very cool out across big chunk of the country. 50 over in denver. 59 in rapid city and even cool ouof cleveland, temperatures in the 40s. 53 in new york city. that is for a strong cold front pushing eastward bringing cooler weather in parts of canada through portions of midwest, great lakes and across the northeast. so very cool air down from canada. in parts of the northeast we are dealing with effects from the cold front, showers in pennsylvania and across some of the great lakes. we have a heavier batch of showers move across the new york city area and parts of massachusetts and connecticut. so we had to deal with heavy downpours. there is a bit of a lull but there are areas of drizzle in northern parts of new jersey and upstate new york. at we head to the southeast, it's not producing a lot of rain. light drizzle across parts of the western carolinas. big impact is the cooler air mass that is settling on in. tonight, very cold out across parts of the plains. not as bad in parts of iowa and missouri. last night we were talking about temperatures below 30 degrees, now a little bette

down on wall street, not sesame street." victor is up next from oregon city oregon. what about your job status? caller: i have been unemployed for over two years now. i previously worked in the oil industry since 1979. i worked two years ago in nevada doing in geothermal wells. from that status, i got laid off from that position. i have been paying attention to where the jobs are, where the money is. and my home town in oregon city, i talked to people who tell me i'm overqualified and have made too much money and i would not be happy with a job status that i am applying for. i have been blessed now. i am seeking a job the same company since june of this year. now i will be going to work in north dakota which is 1,300 miles from my home town. i am going to be doing fluid recovery in the oil wells. unemploymenthat dropped to 7.8%, for example, what people don't understand is that not everybody that applies for unemployment is getting unemployment anymore. in my case, i drew unemployment for over two years. my status now is still unemployed. i am no longer collecting. people are not collec

about the school board race or city council race. when you're talking about the top of the ballot, the presidency, then the idea that there's a dilution of american citizens voting for the american president is only because we have this archaic system of the electoral college, right, which changes state by state, the value of your vote. the real issue is students in swing votes. >> i would say local elections bh matter because i know i voted in local elections when i was in school. i know many people who get to know they certainly campaign on college campuses and tack about what they're going to do for the local community. this is an issue that we see time and time again. it's about people feeling students do not belong but students are a huge asset for the ways i just mentioned and, above all in new hampshire, the state speaker of the house was talking about the fact that the student population there does not belong and that they were going to pay -- not pay taxes and that they were going to help take people who lived in the state of new hampshire and drowned out their voice. >>
